Whereas, on Sunday, February 9, 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LIX by a score of 40 to 22, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana;
Whereas Jalen Hurts was named the Most Valuable Player after an outstanding performance that included a 46-yard touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith;
Whereas, with his outstanding performance, he threw for 221 yards and rushed for 72 yards;
Whereas the Brotherly Shove was executed perfectly, scoring yet another touchdown;
Whereas Cooper DeJean intercepted the ball on a throw from Patrick Mahomes and returned it for 38 yards, scoring a touchdown;
Whereas the Philadelphia Eagles overcame adversity on their journey to the Super Bowl, including the loss of veteran defensive end for eight weeks during the regular season, Brandon Graham;
Whereas the unforgettable Super Bowl LIX victory was the culmination of hard work by the Philadelphia Eagles organization, exceptional leadership, and unwavering support from Eagles fans around the world;
Whereas Super Bowl LIX united more than 100,000,000 Americans through their love for football and American culture;
Whereas Head Coach Nick Sirianni eloquently stated, "This is the ultimate team game. You can’t be great without the greatness of others. Great performance by everybody";
Whereas the Philadelphia Eagles embody the spirit of the city of Philadelphia, a city that is known for its hard work, determination, and togetherness; and
Whereas the Philadelphia Eagles did an outstanding job delivering the Vince Lombardi Trophy to the "City of Brotherly Love", Philadelphia, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania: Now, therefore, be it
That the House of Representatives—
(1) - congratulates the Philadelphia Eagles on their hard-fought victory in Super Bowl LIX; and
(2) - recognizes the achievements of all the players, coaches, and staff who contributed to the victory.
