This Act may be cited as the "Youth Suicide Prevention Research Act".

Subsection (a) of section 3 of the Advancing Research to Prevent Suicide Act (42 U.S.C. 1862v) is amended—

(1) - in paragraph (4), by striking "and" after the semicolon;

(2) - by redesignating paragraph (5) as paragraph (7); and

(3) - by inserting after paragraph (4) the following new paragraphs:

(5) - basic understanding of the role of adverse childhood experiences;

(6) - basic understanding of the role of toxic stress in childhood; and
